Success on Airbnb for Pink Lake Tiny House holiday rental owners Christina and Michael has been a learning curve after their international tourism company was devastated when COVID-19 arrived and the Australian border was closed.
A few years before they built their holiday house, Christina was looking into bubble tents and shipping container homes and discovered Tiny Houses.
The couple initially investigated parking a Tiny House in the Adelaide Hills. However, obtaining planning approval from the local council was proving difficult. After visiting Lake Bumbunga, they noticed that many visitors came to see the pink salt lake but there were no places to stay nearby. People were missing out on the stunning sunrise and sunset on their day trips from Adelaide. The Pink Lake was a great location for a new Tiny House so Christina and Mike purchased some land directly opposite the lake and had a custom-made Tiny House built by Aussie Tiny Houses.
The concept from the start was to be eco-friendly and wherever possible support the local regional economy. All the tradespeople and businesses used for the installation of the house such as electricians, plumbers, the deck builder and fencers were local.
