Hi, I’m Fabio Paulucci, Founder of Aussie Tiny Houses and a tiny house movement enthusiast.
Welcome to our blog!
In 2013 while researching what makes people healthy and happy I discovered the Tiny House movement for the first time. That was when I realised that a change in housing was the solution to our financial, environmental and relationship issues and decided to do something about it!
Design thinking in action
The Aussie Tiny Houses journey began while I was studying Permaculture Design and how communities grow food. I noticed people were feeling held back and stuck, living quite the opposite way to what they needed and really wanted. There was a stark contrast between the ideal of a working vegetable garden and the small blocks of fenced off land with large empty houses on them. So I began to research alternative housing.
Yurts and container homes were the first buildings I found information about. Then one day I came across an American video on Tiny Houses and it was very clear to me that this was the long-term housing solution we needed here in the Australian climate.
Tiny Houses increased in demand in the US during the 1930s depression and the 2007 crash. But in 2013 in Australia, there was nothing like these wonderful houses. I researched everything I could find from the US so I could create an attractive, comfortable and affordable housing solution for Australians.
Growing the Vision
I’m delighted about the many conspiring factors that brought all the pieces together, especially the Aussie Tiny Houses team. I merged my vision for improved living with Thiago’s building and project management skills. Together we engaged carpenters and developed the build team. Then I met Richard – a Melbourne Architect specialising in small space design, who visited the factory on a design job, fell in love with our work in the world and joined the team!
We understand our clients and prioritises helping them create homes that suit their needs. It’s this focus that enables us to manage growth in the company, no matter what the economy is doing, while continuing to offer quality housing, made by craftsmen with over 35 years experience, to an ever-growing market.
I believe that a Tiny House is more than a product, it’s the lifestyle it creates. A Tiny House gives people a way to escape from having to work too hard, only to pay for empty space of a big house with high fences blocking them from the community and what they really want. A Tiny House gives people more time for experiences, for nature and to spend with family.
Opening doors to possibilities
Since the company began, Aussie Tiny Houses has built over 100 houses. I really like working with clients to generate new design ideas which have been included in our expanding range of standard models.
Our Aussie Tiny House factory has moved and grown twice! Located in Coolum Queensland, our factory and showroom can now build 7 houses at once. Once the design is confirmed and the trailer has arrived, it takes the build team approximately 6 weeks to complete a house ready for delivery. I’m proud to say we can guarantee your house will be ready on time and within budget.
We’re preparing for the next stage of growth in the Tiny House movement towards happier healthier lifestyles and welcome you to our Tiny House community.
This little sign on your home means you’ve chosen a lifestyle which prioritizes people over things and sustainability over all.
See our current range of designs and choose your way to a happier, healthier life.

4 years agoHello!
I am wondering, do you work with or recommend anyone good who might be able to find land?
Many thanks! 🙂

4 years agoHi Annette,
My design is with ATH (not yet built as we’re now moving interstate) and I have found three spaces of land in Byron Bay and two in Tasmania by asking AirBnB listings and people we know if we can be on a corner of the property – it helps when your Tiny House is off grid and nice looking like ATH homes. I understand many ATH customers live on friends or family land to start with. Best wishes finding your land.

4 years ago AUTHORHi Annette,
Thanks for following our blog and for the enquiry. Unfortunately, there is no one doing such a job that we can recommend. Most of our customers are finding land themselves via some of the options below:
– Social Media Pages (Facebook)
– Gumtree adds
– Maildrops
– Community Boards
– TinyRealEstate website
Please let us know in case you need further assistance 😉

4 years agoFor the Queensland climate a Tiny House with a large covered deck surrounding it on all sides, which can incorporate outdoor cooking faciliyies, would be ideal.
A large refrigerator would then be placed on the cooler southern side of the deck. Having an outside kitchen would free up more space inside the house.

4 years agoHi Fabio, what do you use for your internal walls? Dry wall plaster would be more likely to crack wouldnt it? So whats the alternate that still looks great
Aussie Tiny Houses
4 years ago AUTHORHi Adam, thanks for your question and message.
You are correct.
Drywall and plaster are definitely not the best lining option for movable buildings. We use pre-finished timber lining panels.
Please feel free to email us or call us if you want to have a more extensive chat.
Best regards.

4 years agoYour tiny houses are very interesting. I am looking into future possibilities. Are the houses insulated ? Where I live it is hot and dry in summer and frosty cold in winter. So much outdoor living looks lovely but would not work in Central Tablelands of NSW. Do any of your products cater for this ?
Aussie Tiny Houses
4 years ago AUTHORHi and thanks for your compliments on our lovely Tiny Houses.
All our houses are fully insulated with Earthwool Bats Rated to a value of R3.5. W do insulate all side walls and the roof cavity. We can also insulate the underside of the trailer as an Upgrade.
We can also double-glaze all our windows and doors for an extra. We have been sending our tiny houses all around Australia and have many of them in cold climate areas such as in VIC, SA and also TASMANIA.
Please give our team a call if you would like us to assist you with any further.
Looking forward to hearing back soon.

4 years agoVery exciting….A list of questions…
Do all your tiny houses need to go on trailers or can they be transported to a permanent location?
Do you also build the decks?
Can you slightly increase the size of the designs?
Thanks so much
Warmly

Aussie Tiny Houses
4 years ago AUTHORHi Jill, thanks for visiting the blog and the comment.
At this point yes. All our Tiny Houses need to go on trailers because when built on wheels and to caravan dimensions they do not require a building permit as it is classified as a vehicle, therefore it falls under the same council regulation as caravans.
We help our customers to design the deck and outdoor areas. However, they are not built in our factory because of transportation issues. Our customers build their decks and outdoor areas with a local builder on site after the Tiny House is delivered.
We keep our builds within the restrictions required for road legality: The maximum height is 4.3m; The maximum width is 2.5m; The maximum length is 9m (10.5m including the draw bar); The maximum weight is 4.5 tonne. If we exceed these dimensions we would not meet the regulations for road legality.
With regards to any oversized trailer, please keep in mind that they will not be classed as a caravan. If the build is wider than 2.5m or not complying with the caravan regulation (Width, length, height and weight), it will be classed as an oversized trailer.
Any oversized trailer will need to go through an oversize transport process that can be done but will need to be considered as the legislation changes from state to state. Depending on the state you will be transporting the tiny house through, you will need to understand the regulation and how this can be transported. For example, any oversize trailer going through NSW needs to be transported on the back of a vehicle or trailer rather than getting towed like a caravan.
Let us know in case you have further questions 😉

3 years agoHi, Your tiny houses are interesting and look well built, Would love to come see them one day. My wife and myself are at this time looking at starting a Tiny Home Village/Community up out west in Queensland. A place were people can be who they feel they truly are, enough of all the controlling ways, live happy, live free. If it all goes ahead as we need more info on the whole council thing, but yes if it all goes ahead we will be looking at purchasing around 10 Tiny homes and we will also use one company that we will send people to them to get their tiny home built etc. We are hoping to get tickets to the Tiny home expo that is next month so hopefully get more info there.
